New Farmers Market near Batesville
More and more people are turning to locally grown food for freshness, quality and food safety. Starting June 9, 2009 and continuing through October 27, 2009 the Laughery Valley Growers (LVG) will participate in a Tuesday evening farmers' market at Walhill Farm, located at 857 Six Pine Ranch Road. The market will be open to the public and to other growers who use natural methods of production.

LVG's Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA) is still accepting reservations  for weekly shares of their naturally grown produce.  Now in its fourth season, this local agricultural cooperative offers fresh vegetables, herbs and some fruits for twenty weeks from June 2 through October 13, 2009.  Pick-up sites are on Tuesdays at Walhill Farm (4:30-8:00pm) in Batesville or at Salatin Orchard (5:00-7:30pm) in Moores Hill.  LVG completed its third successful season in 2008 with 49 members. The co-op is increasing its CSA memberships to 60 in 2009. Information is available at www.foodandgrowers.org or call Shelia Merkel at 812-212-2655.
